Pilgrim’s Progress: Resources

Posted on January 12, 2014 by eig

Here are some resources on Pilgrim’s Progress:

Books:

  • A good classic standard edition of it (Oxford World’s Classics)
  • Banner of Truth edition. Considered a really good edition.
  • Retold in modern language.
  • A newer retelling with great illustrations. It has notes and explanations at the end of the book. Only part 1.
  • Online original free version (click title above for free Kindle one). Another here and here in pdf format.
  • In Spanish here (both part 1 and 2). And here’s the second part by itself: La peregrina. Free in html  here for part 1. Here for part 2 (pdf format)

Audio Books:

  • Abridged Audio here and full version from Audible here.
  • Free YouTube narration here (livri box audio only)
  • Unabridged audio dramatized with good reviews (Amazon).
  • Dramatized free here on YouTube (part 1 of 4)

Movies:

  • The modern movie.
  • An animated version.
  • The older movie that I viewed while a teen-ager. Still my favorite. It’s also on YouTube here.
  • A movie/documentary of it.

For Children:

  • A newer edition retold in modern language with some adaptations. Review of it here.
  • An older edition faithful to the original (my 4th grader read it).
  • A pictorial Pilgrim’s Progress (4th grade and up)
  • Abridged book with great illustrations (appropriate for younger children) which can be used with A children’s guide.
  • A coloring book.
  • The animated movie for kids. Also here on YouTube.
  • Another animation.
  • A free dramatized narration (YouTube)
  • El Peregrino Ilustrado para Niños. En pdf ilustrado aquí.
  • Simplificado con muchos dibujos y pocas palabras aquí (el peregrino) y aquí (la peregrina)

Biographies about John Bunyan.

  • Christian Encounter Series.
  • Grace Abounding: The Life, Books and Influence of John Bunyan
  • An older biography.
  • Here’s an really old one written by a successor of Bunyan at the Bedford Church. It is also in the public domain here.

For Children

  • Trailblazer series with fictionalized situations.
